5 Tips to Have a Great Beach Experience in Krabi with Your Dog

It is a great time to visit the beach. You could go by yourself but decide that you’d rather have someone go with you. You choose to bring your best friend along tor the trip. No, not your friend who is living a few blocks away but your four-legged furry friend! Dogs are a great company, and we aren’t surprised that you want to bring yours to the beach. Not only can you enjoy the sweet relaxing atmosphere that beaches have in store, but your dog will have fun too! Plus, they are great little balls of energy, a great company to have.

To make sure that both of you have the best time ever at the beach, here are five tips to keep in mind:

1.Make Sure Your Dog Likes the Sand and Water

In your excitement, you might have just carried your dog away to a beach trip, only to find out that your dog loathes the sand and the sea. Although this is an unfortunate reality, it is one that you can avoid having to find out the hard way. Before bringing your dog to your beach of choice, take her or him out to a local dog-friendly beach first. If you find your dog running across the sands and swimming in the water, then you’re good to go. Otherwise, if you see your dog avoiding the water altogether, you might have to make some adjustments to your planned beach trip.

2.Apply Sunscreen

You may not realize it, but you are not the only one who needs sunscreen. Your dog needs it too, especially if your dog isn’t as furry. Sunscreen will help keep their skin safe from potential sunburn, so apply it to them thoroughly. Don’t skip the paws, nose, and ears either. Make sure that the sunscreen you’re using is at least 30 SPF, chemical-free, and waterproof for swimming sessions.

3.Be Wary of Hot Sand

With the sun beating down on the beach, the sand can sometimes get a little too hot to stand on. If it is too hot for you to bear, it is too hot for your dog as well. Carry your dog over hot sands to reach the wet areas for a swim or put on rubber shoes on the dog to let him or her walk around until they reach a cooler spot. Don’t forget to check your dog’s paws frequently as well to make sure your dog isn’t injured.

4.Give Plenty of Water and Shade

It is just as essential for you to cool off as it is for your dog to do the same. Make sure that you find a beautiful shady area with plenty of water available for you and the dog to rest in. Better yet, bring cold water stored in coolers for drinking. If you find that your dog is overheating from signs that include excessive panting, bring him or her to a shady spot immediately and provide plenty of cold water. If worst comes to worst, bring your dog straight to a veterinarian to make sure your dog is alright.

5.Use an Extra Long Leash

You’d be tempted to let your dog roam freely on the beach, running on the beach and swimming in the sand. However, we do not recommend this. Use a leash. Why? The last thing you want to happen is to find your dog injured, trying to chase a seagull. When your dog decides to go swimming, the leash also acts as a lifeline should the worst come to be. With that in mind, make sure the leash that you use is at least 10 feet long, along with a harness. This ensures maximum safety while still giving your dog a chance to swim and walk.

These tips will help you give your furry little friend an excellent time. That said, you get to enjoy the beach with peace of mind that your dog is having just as much fun as you are, and is safe in doing so.
